The Rhode Island legislature is still finalizing the bill that would legalize adult-use cannabis in Rhode Island. For the foreseeable future, Rhode Island is limited to medical marijuana dispensaries, which means you can’t legally purchase recreational cannabis in the state of Rhode Island. Can Rhode Islanders purchase from Massachusetts Dispensaries?

Yes! Massachusetts allows any adult 21 and over to purchase cannabis products in licensed dispensaries in the state. All you need is an up-to-date, government-issued photo ID showing that you are of age. Bring that and either cash or a debit card, and you are good to go.

Is Weed Legal in Massachusetts?

Yes, both recreational and medicinal weed is legal in Massachusetts. That being said, you aren’t permitted to smoke weed or otherwise use cannabis in public in MA, so you’ll need to enjoy your weed on private property. If you’re staying in a hotel or AirBnB, be sure to talk with the property owner or manager to learn whether they’re ok with you using cannabis while staying on their property.
